Fifty-Fifty FAIL
FullTilt's $55, 50K-guarantee tournament. I am in the top 5 of chip leaders, and have arrived at my current table fairly recently. I am opening up my range and bullying the table. I flop the nuts, and hope someone else will take a stab at it so that I can check-raiseā¦

Is that really a bad beat as opposed to a cooler?
Yes, it's a bad beat. All the money went in on the flop when I was approximately an 83% favorite to win.
In my understanding, it's only a cooler if you get your money in with a strong hand and lose to one that was already stronger (i.e., you were losing the whole way).
I guess I equate the bad beat to bad play. In that case, I think with effective stacks, and position in the tourney, it would have been "incorrect" to get away from 2 pair there.
I thought a cooler is a strong hand loosing to a stronger hand, regardless of who was ahead...?
On another note, perhpas Rakewell will start a new blog to provide a forum for the mighty 2-4 to be extolled....
No, bad beats should be equated with *good* play that gets beat anyway. That's why it's a *bad* beat. You got beat when you shouldna.
And I can't even imagine that one Cardgrrl. Yowch.
Had a flush beat by a full house myself yesterday, and it's never pleasant, but it's one thing in cash games for pennies... in a tournament like that?
Blue-
I meant bad play on the part of the opponent who laid the beat on you. Otherwise, I agree that it entails getting beaten when you shouldn't.
